- How Do I Keep my S.T.A.R. or C3P designation active? Do I ever lose the certification?
Once you have passed either exam, you do not lose the designation; nor do you need to take the test again in the future.
In order to continue to stay active in your C3P designation (going from C4P or higher) you need to take no less than 3 hours of continuing education each year, and complete the recertification form found under the "Resources" tab above.
In order to stay acitve from S.T.A.R. on to "Shining S.T.A.R" you need to take no less than 6 hours of continuing education each year, and complete the recertification form found under the "Resources" tab above.
It is important that certified recipients in both fields stay informed and up to date within the housing industry. Receiving each year the Spectrum Designation will show that you are keeping current with the programs.
- What time do the seminars begin?
Check-in begins at 8:00 and classes begin at 9 am for all Spectrum public courses.
(please note co-sponsored meeting times may differ, please check with co-sponsoring association for exact check in and start times.)
- What is the passing score for the C3P and the S.T.A.R. exams?

- I have a training book from a few years ago... can I get an updated training manual without taking the course?
Many changes have occurred in both the RD and the Tax Credit programs, we suggest that if you have not taken the training within the last year, that you do so in order to get the latest information on changes in policy and regulations. However, you can purchase either training manual on its own, please contact us for more details.
- I want to attend a co-sponsored training, how do I register?
With all co-sponsored events, the sponsoring association handles all registrations. Under the training that is listed on our website, you will find the person to contact for registration with that specific training.
Spectrum is not repsonsible for registrations, nor can prior Spectrum credits be used towards a co-sponsored event.
- I want to give some feedback on the training I attended, where can I do that?
Spectrum encourges your open and honest feedback; it helps us to better improve the services we provide. Please take a moment and visit the "Contact Us" page for comment page, as well as an anonymous feedback form.
Thank you!
- I need to take the certification test again, how can I do that?
Retesting can happen one of two ways.
1) Online retesting is available Please click HERE for more information2) You can retest at any location that a public training is being held. It does not necessarily have to be class specific to the test you need. Once you register to re-test, we will give you instructions as to what time on the second day to be at the facility. Fill out the regular registration form for on-site retesting.
The $50 Re-test fee does NOT include taking the course over.
